Celebrating the achievements of LDI's First Cohort of Participants and Mentors
As the first cohort is set to graduate from the LDI Programs in 2011, LDI participants report palliative care Programs that promote quality of life for seriously ill patients are now being developed in their countries, thanks to the training and resources they received from The Institute for Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice. IPM celebrates these achievements and look forward to hearing more wonderful news as the year continues:
- Dr. Mohammad Bushnaq helped launch Jordan's new Palliative Care Society, an organization dedicated to providing medical, psychological and social care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, and will serve as its first President. During the launch, Bushnaq also unveiled his new Arabic-language book on pain management.
- Dr. Khanh Quach was appointed Vice-Director of the new Palliative Care Department in the Ho Chi Minh City Cancer Center in Vietnam. This new department will ensure patients who have end-stage cancer receive comprehensive palliative care.
- Dr. Urska Lunder, from Slovenia, has recently published a new book reflecting on her experience working in the field of palliative care. Notably, a section of her book highlights her work with The Institute for Palliative Medicine.
